I’ve been working with Hotbodies to design a higher race seat for the Yamaha R3 and we decided to integrate it into the tank cover since they didn’t offer a tank cover. Here’s some photos of the prototype. They did an awesome job with it. The details and lines are very crisp, much sharper than the catalyst tank cover I’ve been using. If you like a smoother look, the catalyst is smoother in the bodywork and the tank cover. If you like a crisper look, the hotbodies details are crisper, in both the bodywork and the new tank cover.
They have to make a couple adjustments to the fit (the opening for the fuel cap isn’t quite big enough, so it doesn’t sit down all the way in the photos), but these should be available in the next couple weeks. The fiberglass seat sits in the same place as the top of the oem foam seat, so instead of sinking in to the oem seat, you sit on top, or you can add a foam pad to raise it higher to whatever height you like. I’ll make some precut pads this fall also, so watch for those.
