Penske Racing Shocks has released the 8983 Double Adjustable rear shock for the Yamaha R3.
Every Norton Racing Spec Penske 8983 shock is hand built in the USA to our specifications and includes a custom shock length, spring, and valving specifically designed for the customer taking into consideration the motorcycle, rider weight, and rider preferences. Then every shock is dyno tested for accuracy. This is not the same shock you will receive if you order a Penske 8983 shock from another company. This is our own Race Spec. Build.
The 8983 features a remote reservoir damper and separate compression, rebound, ride height, and preload adjustments. The 8983’s design also allows for fast and easy spring changes without the use of a spring compressor or any special tools.
Based on the ever popular and highly successful 8100 series, the 8983 provides new dimensions of adjustability and versatility to the professional racer and the high-end aftermarket customer. Its modular design allows the use of piggybacks where remote versions are not desirable or feasible. The New compression adjuster features a new adjustable parabolic needle bleed bypass of a conventional shim stack and piston carried over from the top of the line 8700 series dampers. This results in 16 clicks of adjustment with enhanced linear steps between settings.
The new 8983 shock sets the standard in double-adjustable shock absorbers in terms of performance, quality, and value. There is no better rear shock on the market for the Yamaha R3.
Once you place an order, you will receive an email inquiring about your motorcycle, rider weight, and riding preference. Each shock will ship with initial settings that should work well for you, however you may want to work with a local suspension tuner to optimize your suspension’s performance according the track and your riding style.
*You will need to remove the OEM bushing from the lower shock mount of your OEM shock and reuse it with your Penske 8983 shock.
