These Woodcraft 3-Piece split clipons are designed specifically for the R3 to lower the bars as far as possible without interference. They drop the bars nearly 3" (see comparison photo) over the OEM parts and feature a sporty yet comfortable 5 degree down angle. Plus, replacement bars are inexpensive and available everywhere.
Most clipons mount the bars slightly forward of the fork tube. With the R3, it is difficult to position the bar forward of the fork tube without causing interference with the upper fairing or dash. These Woodcraft R3 clipons mount the bars directly out from the side of the fork tube. This provides more clearance in the front of the bars and allows you to rotate the bars more perpendicular to the bike if you prefer, and provide more clearance to the upper fairing and dash than other clipon designs.
These clipons are ideal for shorter riders, or riders who prefer having the bars closer to them while riding.
With Woodcraft's trademark split clamp design, installation and service is a breeze. The 3-piece design is race proven and makes it easy to service your clipons below the triple clamp without having to disassemble the entire front end. Special attention has also been taken to save weight wherever possible.
All kits include special length bars designed specifically for this set.
The clip-on mounts and bars are all black.
***IMPORTANT***
The OEM left side grip is VERY difficult to remove without damaging it, and the OEM Throttle tube on the R3 has molded plastic fins on it to keep the grip from spinning. This makes it very labor intensive to file or dremel down these fins if you want to install aftermarket grips. Because of these 2 factors, I highly recommend purchasing a replacement left side grip with your clipons to make your installation easy. I also highly recommend replacing the R3 throttle tube with an R6 throttle tube at the same time you are changing the clipons, since you already have the handle bars taken apart. The R6 throttle tube has a larger cam diameter and will shorten the throw of the throttle on your R3 by 15-20%. This makes it much easier to reach full throttle without having to re-grip the throttle or twist your wrist uncomfortably far. This does not require any modification to your R3 other than loosening the throttle cable a little at the adjuster nut on the throttle housing.
