How to install a stainless steel braided front brake line on the Yamaha R3 / MT-03

***UPDATED 11/9/18 (some photos have been updated, so pictures may have different color lines) For racing or aggressive riding, one of the first upgrades I recommend is to replace the OEM rubber front brake line with a stainless steel or kevlar braided line. OEM rubber lines are flexible and will expand when you squeeze the lever.

Here’s a couple photos from the guys at Hard Racing showing a quick and dirty way to change the Yamaha R3 to GP shift using the stock foot pegs. You will need a longer stainless steel shift rod, they used an extra one they had laying around and cut it short then re-threaded the end

How to get more dash clearance for your clipons and brake line – Yamaha R3

One of the main issues so far with adding aftermarket clipons and lowering the bars on the R3 is that it creates interference between the banjo bolt on the front brake master cylinder and the dash display when turning the bars all the way to the left. You have to either deal with the interference,
