As you all probably know, I’ve been testing different suspension upgrades available from Traxxion Dynamics and Penske. However, there’s a big gap in price and performance between the Traxxion Dyamper rod kit and the top of the line AK-20 cartridge kit, so I’ve partnered up with Fast Bike Industries to offer the complete line of Andreani Group USA and Ohlins suspension products as well.
The AK-20 cartridge system is a premium system that utilizes a dual piston design. It has more complex internals, and is aimed at offering the highest level of fork suspension available for the Yamaha R3. The Andreani Group USA cartridge kit is a less expensive, single piston design. It offers a HUGE improvement in performance over the stock damping rod forks, and a better, and much more adjustable upgrade from the Traxxion Damper Rod kit, at less than 2/3 the price of the AK-20. I haven’t personally tested both sets on the same bike and track, so I can’t give my apples to apples feedback. But I have discussed these sets with a number of top racers in the US as well as Brandon Demmery, who raced an R25 for Team Yamaha Factory in Asia in 2015. There are definitely racers winning races with the Andreani cartridge system, it is a very capable system. However, at the highest level, Brandon has expressed to me a noticeable difference between the Andreani system and other systems he has used. I will also have the Ohlins NIX cartridges shortly, as they are expected to be available in May 2016. The Ohlins NIX cartridges and K-Tech cartridges are also both single piston design systems.
I have also added the YamahaR3Racing.com Race Spec. Ohlins YA 467 shock to my offerings. Both the Ohlins YA 467 shock and the YamahaR3Racing.com Race Spec. Penske 8983 shock are built for my customers to my race spec. These shocks will be setup differently when purchased from me as compared to when purchased from other vendors.
